Position Description: GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES

The individual will be responsible for the design, development, cost, and performance of major development programs. This position is responsible for coordinating the mechanical design across engineering disciplines for consumer or commercial equipment, along with supporting current production issues. All development phases (working with industrial design on preliminary design, identifying manufacturing methods for metal and plastic fabrication, analytical testing and prototype performance evaluation, engineering documentation, and life cycle maintenance) are part of the Mechanical Engineer II responsibility. Requires interfacing with subcontractors and onsite manufacturing personal.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

The Mechanical Engineer shall be able to carry out the following responsibilities:

Responsible for the development of a major consumer or commercial, program using the PACE development process.

Possess the ability to take an engineered approach on all issues that arise and demonstrate this approach through their daily actions

Oversees the development of design concepts and test criteria. Implements test plans for system and component level development.

Resolves field, service, and manufacturing issues.

Works with other engineers to reuse common platforms and best design practices to reduce development time.

REQUIRED SKILLS AND ABILITIES

Minimum of seven years mechanical engineering product development experience

Minimum of three years electro-mechanical product experience

Intimate knowledge of 3D Modeling principles utilizing SolidWorks

Experienced in plastic production methods (injection, thermoform, blow mold, etc.) and forming metal part (sheet metal forms, extrusion)

Knowledge of the tools utilized in quality control such as DFMEA and structural analysis

Evaluate feasibility of design ideas based on factors such as appearance, safety, function, serviceability, budget, production costs/methods, and market characteristics

Maintain direct accountability for all standards that apply to the product lines to which they are assigned including drawings, BOMs, and build standards

Development process oriented including quality control and DFM.

Ability to multitask simultaneous programs and priorities while maintaining tight timelines.

Able to plan for contingencies and know when to invoke them.

Experience in Excel/Word ' knowledge of Project a plus.

Outstanding written and verbal communication skills.

Participate in industry trade shows, educational seminars and vendor training as required.

Maintain knowledge base of industry news, technology and benchmarks.

EDUCATION

Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent experience in Mechanical Engineering
