Position Description: A leading manufacturer of aircraft interior products.

Company is seeking energetic, self-starters for positions as Design Engineers with our Seating Products Group in NC. Our design processes include in-house industrial design capabilities, utilizing photo realistic imaging and VR tools to develop concepts.

Key Responsibilities

Our design engineers plan, design, and analyze the construction and use of seating products for commercial aircraft.

They are responsible for performing complex assignments often requiring development of new or improved products, processes, or techniques.

Design of mechanical components and assemblies using accepted design practices with an emphasis on manufacturability, reliability and maintainability.

Parametrically modeling designs in Unigraphics using the master model approach (assemblies and components).

Create engineering drawings verifying fit, form and function of mechanical designs.

Design and test prototypes to prove designs.

Verify structural
acceptability of designs.

Must employ broad knowledge of materials, load, suppliers, and FEA to design products that meet manufacturability and FAA requirements.

Evaluate materials and parts for use in new designs including communicating with current and new suppliers.

Complete assigned projects on time and within budget.

Job Requirements :

Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering from a four-year college or university, and a minimum of three years related experience.
Prior experience in the design of mechanical systems for commercial aircraft seating products is a plus.
Experience designing composite parts from materials/processes such as carbon, glass, kevlar, pre-pregs, compression molding, RTM, and crush core molding.
Prior experience designing injection molded plastic parts, castings, sheet metal, machined and vacuum formed parts.
Experience working with Design for Manufacturing and Assembly (DFMA) principles.
Familiarity with FAA requirements a plus.
Ability to work with minimal supervision.
Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Demonstrated ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of variables.
